Thank You!

Over the past few years I have had the distinct honour of teaching a dynamic, diverse, dedicated and fun-loving group of students. Each one of you with a personality all your own, each one of you contributing a portion to the chemistry that made you such an enjoyable group to be around. Throughout our time together you have grown both personally and as a group as you navigated the challenging times life sometimes throws your way. You have learned from, leaned on and supported one another, truly exemplifying the quote by William Shakespeare:
“A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.”

Thanks for the fond memories!

Charity Soccer Classic & BBQ Hot Dog Lunch

Wednesday June 26th, Dougall students were treated to a fun-filled day. All day students were able to engage in their choice of games including washer toss, ring toss, board games, Just Dance 2, etc. with refreshments such as freezies and an assorted variety of beverages. Those in grades 5-8 could also play throughout the day in a day-long soccer tournament consisting of consecutive matches to find the soccer champion. At noon, students enjoyed a barbecue hot-dog lunch with chips and a drink, afterwards continuing with the aforementioned activities on their whim. All proceeds were donated to charity, and in the end we were able to raise nearly $750 in profit. Way to go Dragons!

BBQ Lunch/Soccer Tournament

On Wednesday June 26th, Dougall will be having a Hot Dog Day (100% Halal Beef) and Charity Soccer Tournament in Bruce Park. Forms for both events went home today and will also be available on Monday.

We are looking for grade 8's and former Dougall students to help with this worthy cause. Please let Mr. Seal know if you are interested in helping out by responding to this post or through twitter.

Thanks and enjoy your weekend.

Bruce Park Community Garden

This morning a small group of grade 7 students worked in the Bruce Park Community Garden. The kids turned the soil, added compost and planted a variety of vegetables and herbs.

Student of the Month - May

Today I am pleased to recognize a student that has demonstrated self-discipline and shown personal growth.

Over the past month and a half this student has taken steps to control his feelings and has found positive outlets when dealing with frustrations.

While he has always been an attentive listener, he has recently taken steps to involve himself in class discussions and group work. Just last week he supported his group with his puppet skills and on our recent grad trip tackled difficulties head on.

His honest effort and use of self-control have played a significant role in his growth as a person.

Congratulations Daniel Ellis!

Goodbye Camp Wenonah

After three action packed days of new experiences, our time at camp has finally come to a close. I am so proud of the way all our Dragons conducted themselves, supported one another and challenged themselves. We are all richer for having shared in these experiences.

Voyageurs Of Sorts

Today some of our students took to the open waters of Clear Lake to explore an island opposite camp Wenonah. Calm water and seasoned paddlers made for a enjoyable trip.

Reaching New Heights

Yesterday evening some of us had the chance to tackle the vertical wall. While I had the opportunity to take many great pictures, here are just a few of our students pushing their limits.

Guess Who??????

Cooling off in Clear Lake

After an action packed day in the sun, there's no better way to cool down than a dip in the lake.

Morning paddle anyone?

This morning a group of students were able to get out on the open water for a quick paddle. For many this was their first time in any type of boat.

Fire Building

Using only a small piece of magnesium and charcoal cloth the students were able to ignite a "cedar nest" and eventually build a campfire. Good job guys!

Monday Afternoon/Evening Highlights

Here are a collection of pictures of us participating in a wide range of activities yesterday. We were busy all day and the kids settled down quickly last night.
