Student of the Month: September

Our first recipent arrives at school each day prepared and ready to learn. She has recently found her "voice" and regularly shares her opinions and advocates for herself. She makes an honest effort on her homework each night and arrives the next day with questions for further clarification and discussion. Congratulations Aysha Abdalla on getting off to such a great start!

Our next recipent only recently joined Dougall but has made an immediate impact on his peers and teachers with his good nature, attention to detail and desire to improve in all areas. This student regularly consults with me before going home each night to clarify the evenings expectations and identify areas for further improvement. With this level of dedication and desire to improve he is sure to be successful in education and in life. Congratulations Mook Soe!

Awards Ceremony

Friday in class the grade 8's presented awards that were created to honor their fellow classmates. Each award was unique and highlighted the many diverse talents in room 205. In the end, this turned out to be an incredible valuable experience that spoke volumes to the classroom community we have created.

Unfortunately we have to say goodbye (for now) to two very important pieces of our class puzzle. We would like to wish both Jessica and Victor all the best as they continue their educational journey at a new school. We will miss you!

Discovering Pi With Sir Cumference

Today in math class students measured circles of all sizes to find the diameter and circumference. We then examined the relationship between the two and discovered that the circumference is about 3 times the diameter for any given circle. Actually it's about 3 1/7. Or better yet, 3.1415926535897. I think you get the idea. Here are a few pictures of the students in action.
