STUDENT of the MONTH DECEMBER

Today I am proud to present December's Student of the Month to two outstanding individuals. Both have demonstrated initiative and teamwork throughout the first half of the school year.

Our first recipient is quick to put the needs of the group before herself. She will work with anyone in our class regardless of the task, and in doing so is quickly emerging as a leader. Please join me in congratulating future Walkerville Tartan Fathi!

Our next recipient can be found volunteering with the breakfast club some mornings and enjoys getting involved in our school outside the classroom. She came into this school year with lofty goals and has gone to great length to achieve these goals. From maintaining organized notes to ensuring assigned work is completed well and on time, she is quickly building the foundation necessary to be successful at any level. Congratulations goes out to future Massey Mustang Sharmin!

Can You Convince Me?

Use some of the persuasive strategies developed in class to write a persuasive piece that expresses points in a clear, logical sequence.

Persuasive Essay Writing Prompts
1. In Many households where there are teenagers, there are often arguments over cell phones. Think about the importance of having a cell phone. Now write to persuade your parents to buy you a cell phone or keep the one you already have.

2.. In some schools students wear uniforms. Think about what is involved when students are required to wear uniforms to school. Now write to persuade your principal to agree with your view whether school uniforms should be required.

3. Teen drivers have a lot more fun than most older drivers do. Teens also have a lot more accidents. Now, some provinces are limiting how and when teenagers can drive to keep the roads safer. Think about teenagers behind the wheel. Write to persuade politicians to agree with your view on teenage driving.
