Exploring Relationships on a Grid

In Math class this week, students focused on relationships between numbers and variables. We measured stacks of cups and recorded our data in a table. We then plotted the points on a coordinate grid and wrote formulas relating the height of the stack to the number of cups.

Patterning and Algebra

This past week the grade 8 class explored patterns by creating various 3D models. We then tried to devise formulas to solve for the nth term. Along the way we determined that creating a T-Chart is a solid way of organizing our work. Here are a few pics of our investigations and antics to boot!

January Student of the Month

Today I am pleased to present the Student of the Month award to two caring, conscientious, and hardworking individuals that have demonstrated respect, responsibility and initiative.  Additionally they have stood out as leaders both in and out of the classroom.

Both quietly lead by example.  From completing assignments on time and with care to preparing for tests and quizzes well in advance.  These two are partially responsible for creating an atmosphere in which it's cool to try your best and achieve at school.

Finally, above all, these two are exceptional listeners.  They respect what others in our class have to say, and value the opinions and learning styles of their peers.

Thus far, their dedication to school and improving on a personal level is paying huge dividends.  both sit atop the grade 8 class and will no doubt experience the same success at their respective high schools.

Congratulations future Mustang Sabriya and future Clipper Daniel.
